Unidentified Quilt Maker
72 x 86 inches
Origin Unknown: Found in Washington State
A terrific mid-19th century quilt with an unusual finish (all original).
Was this the quilt maker's way of dealing with the "posters" at the end of a bed?
Or, as some suggest: a way to keep the bottom corners safe from shoes?
Superb, dense hand quilting in a variety of elaborate quilting designs in the white areas. Stitches measure about 12 per inch (counting one side only).
