81 patch Crib Quilt

Patchwork and applique crib quilt. It's been fun to speculate about why the maker included (or added later?) the top solid blue section. (That top section is hand quilted, in decorative designs as well as three quilted-in animals. Nice, even stitches).
Did she intend to use that top section to cover pillows at the top of the quilt? Or perhaps she extended the length, a practical plan for when her child would inevitably grow? It is seamed on the front only, created originally.
All cottons, hand quilted -- and in Excellent Condition, with the occasional spot, and no wear at all.
The pieced blocks are teeny tiny squares organized into 9 x 9 columns and rows -- 81 patch! The alternate blocks are hand embroidered animals based on patterns offered by the Rainbow Quilt Block Company of Cleveland, Ohio, circa 1930.
