In Mint Condition, this mid-20th century applique has been superbly quilted, with fine hand stitching measuring about 9 - 10 stitches to the inch (counting one side only). The maker, clearly a skilled and experienced needlewoman, chose crosshatch and feather wreaths.
Flowers and leaves have been hand embroidered with very tight blanket stitching, outlining the applique nicely. Measuring 86 x 86 inches, this classic is large enough to work on a modern bed. Double borders and a narrow binding finish the quilt with elegance.
