Sawtooth Square Quilt Top

Why do I put two dates on this one? It is what we call a "two-generation quilt" (top) because the age of the pieced blocks and the alternate blocks are 70 or so years apart...
The Sawtooth Square pieced blocks are all made of gorgeous deep indigo prints from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1870. The half square triangles surrounding the indigoes, including madders and some cheddar, are also of the era.
The alternate blocks are a mid-20th century print that goes very well, but is seven decades newer. A great choice! All cottons and in Crisp, Excellent Condition. Photos of the back show that this is machine pieced and very sturdy.
