I found this quilt in Georgia, not too far from Atlanta, and I'm thinking it may well have been made there, or somewhere in the Southern U.S.
One clue is the plaid cotton back. Another is hand quilting, executed in a common Southern design called Clamshell or Fan quilting. Another name for it is "Elbow Quilting," where makers planted an elbow and stitched arcs as far as her arm could reach.
In strong, sturdy condition, it has one stain, and a small hole. Measures 67 x 67, making it a great size for hanging in that narrow space on your (sadly) empty wall!
