Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1900
66 x 76 inches
Probably Pennsylvania; Found in Washington State
Excellent Condition (see more in description)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This quilt is a great illustration of to how a quilt maker with good design skills can take a relatively simple block, and create a very successful work of art.
The maker's choices of colors, fabrics, proportion, size, quilting designs, etc.
are what matters here...  Not how complex the design is
nor how excellent her sewing might be.
Speaking of sewing, the hand quilting here is excellent, and in nice arching designs that fill the wide borders, framing the quilt well.
All the fabrics here are prints, including alternate blocks and wide borders.
As is common in Pennsylvania German quilts, this one is reversible ~ the back
is made of strips of yet more printed fabric, organized into Bars.
Excellent Condition, with one apology:
There's a very slight (vertical) fade in one place that I did not see it at all until we  put the quilt up, and took photos ... it's minor, but worth pointing out.
Please see the last photo.
