Improvisational Rail Fence (variation) Quilt
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1950
52 x 67 inches
Origin Unknown; Found in Alabama
I was recently lucky enough to buy several improvisational quilts, all found in one place in Alabama. Sadly, they came without any additional history or provenance. How I wish we could know who made them, and if the makers were related!
Vibrant, cheery colors fill the blocks, which are like variations on theme. A quilt maker with a great eye for design created these blocks! All of the mid 20th century prints are 100% cotton. The quilt maker's choice of a green tartan print for sashing/background is just perfect!
On the small size, the quilt is just the right size for hanging (52 x 67 inches). All cottons, and in Excellent Condition. Hand quilted in the Fans or Clamshell design. Ready for you.
