Geese in Flight Variant Quilt
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1890
90 x 90 inches
Origin Unknown; Found in Florida
I've "asked around" to my very knowledgable quilt-y friends, and so far, no one has seen this precise pattern with a name. I'm therefore calling it "Geese in Flight" variant, based on the triangles organized in a row. See LAST photo for the block...
Lots of interesting printed fabrics here, ranging in age from about 1860 to 1890, I'd say. Fabrics include madders, turkey red and some "cheddar," which is officially called "chromium yellow." This is hand quilted, very nicely executed, which may have been done more recently than the top.
