Double Wedding Ring
Unidentified Quilt Maker
80 x 90 inches
Found in Ohio
A very fine example of a favorite twentieth century American quilt pattern,
Double Wedding Ring.
Precisely pieced, flat, and lightweight, with lovely scalloped edges. Bright and clear colors with a ton of wonderful 1930s era printed fabrics. All cottons.
The hand quilting is more dense than we usually see, and very fine. I've added an American penny in some of the photos for scale.
A generous size at 80 x 90 inches (outside scallop to outside scallop).
The quilt is finished in an interesting way: The quilt maker finished the edge
with a separately applied pink binding ~ that s/he left narrow on the front and
wider on the back. See photos.
