Double Irish Chain
Unidentified Quilt Maker
92 x 92 inches
Probably Pennsylvania Mennonite
This Quilt Maker Knew Her Stuff...
Meticulously pieced, masterfully quilted, and beautifully designed, this beauty was made by a very skilled quilt maker, probably a Pennsylvania Mennonite.
Following tradition, s/he used only solid color and even pieced the back in Bars. The hand quilting here is elaborate, dense --and extraordinarily fine, even in comparison to other quilts of that time and place.
Very generous in size (92' x 92'), this quilt would work well on a modern bed, and
although large would make a stunning statement on a wall.
(Note: the back includes two different red fabrics, not a fade.)
