Stunning. I can only hope that the photos of this early quilt show the full-on gorgeousness of the wonderful printed fabrics.
The luscious chintz fabrics are cool enough ~ and I also am intrigued by the unusual (and very effective) way the quilt maker organized them. There is something clever to say here about the maker working "outside the box," but I can't quite capture it. Can you help?
Quilt is in exceptional condition with the fabrics intact, and the occasional spot or light stain barely visible. Hand quilted in nice , even stitching. The real Star of The Show here is the marvelous, sparkling surface.
