"Mary's Adirondack Baskets" Quilt
Made by Mary Mashuta
Circa 2007
52 x 54 inches
Berkeley, California
As many of you know, I rarely offer quilts made after about 1970. I'm making a happy exception here for this very special small quilt by Mary Mashuta, which I have been given the opportunity to sell. Mary has never before sold any of her quilts!
Mary, along with her late sister, Robert Horton is an important figure in this most recent Quilt Revival, starting in the early 1970s. Popular and respected teachers since about 1970, Roberta and Mary have students all over the globe. They are also very popular authors of numerous quilt books (most of which were published by C&T Publishers (see photos). They also designed fabrics which have been used over many decades now.
Both sisters were very fine designers and quilt makers. I very much like this small quilt made by Mary sometime around 2007. What beautiful, restrained textile. Classic, somehow, although it is of course, one of a kind!
This beauty has been machine quilted, is all cottons and is in Excellent, Unused Condition. The right size for just the right wall.
