Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
Unknown Quilt Maker
Circa 1940
67 x 75 inches
Origin Unknown; Found in Southern California
This quilter made a color choice we do not regularly see in "Grandmother's Flower Garden" quilts of the era. We do occasionally see brown as a major color in these quilts, but it's unusual enough to have gotten my attention.
The use of brown gives the design a different "air," maybe even aesthetic "gravity" from the more common lighter colored ones. The quilt is in very good condition. Tnin and lightweight. It is hand quilted.
