Of a generous size, this mid-19th century applique quilt is in Excellent Condition. It's think and lightweight, strong and sturdy. The early Turkey red and double dyed green fabrics are both printed, and set agains a plain white.
The hand work on the applique is finely executed, as is the hand quilting throughout. The elaborate quilting designs include hearts quilted through out.
I especially like the way the small scale, intricate border design counterbalances the large central appliqués. The tiny berries, laid in straight lines, are raised, having been stuffed with themselves.
Quilt has had a hand applied sleeve for hanging. Ready for a bed or wall.
