Feathered Star Quilt
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1880
73 x 90 inches
Origin Unknown
Large scale "Feathered Star," meticulously pieced and hand quilted. I like how it looks like the Stars are holding hands!
The small diamonds and triangles that make up the Stars are of a range of turn-of-the-century printed fabrics, mostly reds, pinks, and indigoes. The quilt maker alternated those prints with solid white triangles to great graphic effect.
More unusual choices are the variety of creamy brown prints in the larger triangles... and the dense blue and white printed floral of the ground fabric.
Excellent Condition ~ crisp. There are a few light stains that are quite difficult to see in all the printed splendor. The quilt appears unused and unwashed. Ready to go!
