Crazy Quilt
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1940
70 x 76 inches
Origin unknown; Found in Virginia
The first two photos of this mid-20th century Crazy Quilt are two views: I rotated the first photo 180º. I like both orientations ~ and wanted to let you all see both.
Thin and lightweight, and measuring 70 x 76 inches, this one looks great on the wall. It's abstract, but sometimes we can see something that resembles something else we know. Our brains just want to do that, right?
In the first photo, the one with the horizontal rows at the top, I see Two Trees: vertical columns 2 and 4 are the trunks which finish with abstract branches and leaves (and fruit...?)
Maybe I should not drink before I write up quilts.
