I love the quilts that are the maker's fully personal vision. This one-of-a-kind textile falls into the "Variations on a Theme" category. Each block is an abstraction built around a center circle, and unique. And each block is a fine composition in itself.
The composition nods to the traditional Log Cabin, with sort-of strips building out from the center. But that very center, a circle, renders it a different animal.
In very good condition, it is composed primarily of silks and rayons. There are a few pieces that have been expertly netted, and remain strong and sturdy.
It is a tied piece; all of the decorative embroidery is by hand. The smallish size makes it perfect for hanging on the wall ~ a mid-20th century patchwork treasure.
