Eva Long Stevens
Circa 1900
95 x 95 inches
Manitou Springs Area, Colorado

This amazing quilt, with its wonderful provenance (published, known maker), and its more than 13,000 tiny pieces ~ is also in Excellent Condition. Still crisp.  Fabrics intact.

Eva Long Stevens had the ability to precisely cut and sew these many thousands of pieces, and ~ what a marvelous sense of design she had. Her choice of how to piece those borders and corners!

The quilt is thin and lightweight, and hand quilted in nice even stitches.  Back of the quilt has an applied sleeve for easy hanging.  And this looks incredible on a wall ~ I have it on mine, but only for the moment.  It can be yours!

Enjoy the many. many photos of the quilt including one with a quarter coin for scale.  Also photos of the book in which it is featured, "QUILTS: California Bound, California Made, 1840-1940" by Sandi Fox.  More details about the story of the quilt in the beautiful book, which will be included in the sale.
