Log Cabin, Straight Furrow Variation
Unknown Quilt Maker
Circa 1890
66 x 75 inches
Origin Unknown; Likely Pennsylvania
A stunning hand-quilted Log Cabin quilt probably made in Pennsylvania ... Strongest clues to that are the many printed fabrics, and the colorful printed back. Pennsylvania a Germans liked exuberant design and many of their quilts are primarily prints. This one dances!
This quilt maker organized her/his blocks into a striking overall design called "Straight Furrow," one of dozens of ways to arrange Log Cabin blocks. Note the way she cut and placed the striped prints. Good and scrappy, but organized.
Excellent Condition with some very minor discoloration here and there. See photos.
