Thistle Applique
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1900
inches
Found in Missouri
Excellent Condition; Crisp
I think it's wonderful how "cheddar" can enliven a red and green applique quilt. Imagine this charming, folky example without those flashes of orange...
This example has many hallmarks of quilts made in the Southern United States, but its exact origin (and maker) remain unknown.
Beautifully hand quilted in small even stitches, and organized into a dense, overall crosshatch design. In excellent (apparently unused) condition.
Sometimes a quilt just makes you smile. This one does me.
