Beautifully hand quilted example of a classic applique design traditionally known as "Whig Rose" or "Democrat Rose." Organized in a Five Block format, with lots of extra flowers, buds, and greenery, the surface is well covered and lively.

Still, the remaining white areas are densely quilted in elaborate designs and in small and even hand stitches. Note that the vining border is carefully resolved, and creates a visually satisfying frame.

This pre-Civil War quilt is in  overall sturdy condition, though there is some wear here and there, especially to the Turkey red in a few places.  Visible in the photos.  Priced to reflect the imperfections in condition.
