This quilt, a complete abstraction when seen vertically, magically becomes a landscape when turned horizontally. We are used to seeing these 1930’s fabrics in more restrained settings -- think "Double Wedding Ring," or "Grandmother's Flower Garden," but here they seem to pulse and vibrate with barely contained energy and wildness.
Contributing to the overall exuberance is the border of fireworks around the center field, which threatens to hijack the whole design. An exciting one-of-a-kind treasure by an unknown artist.
