Flower Basket Crib Quilt
Sarah Jane Henderson Ward
Circa 1927
56 x 46 inches
Origin Unknown: Found in Nebraska
The "Flower Basket" has always been a popular American quilt design. In this Crib Quilt, made of only red and white, it all but qualifies as a "classic."
See photo for the label on the back indicating this little quilt was officially documented in the Nebraska State Documentation Program in 1989.
Made circa 1900. It will be effective hung on just the right wall. Hand quilted, it shows beautifully. Read on for condition.
When I saw this quilt (in person) at an antique show, I did not notice that the white fabric in the very center section was worn. So, the Bad News is the quilt is worn in the center. The Good News, though -- is that I did not see the wear in the center. What that means is -- this displays beautifully -- but .. there is wear in center. (See last photo -- though I had trouble capturing the wear -- more Good News?). (Binding looks replaced.)
So, an imperfect little gem that shows well.
