Bear Paw Friendship Quilt

It's been fun for lovers of quilt history to find regional "fads" for certain designs, sometimes limited to a very limited geographic area. This quilt is related to a trend we have identified mid-19th century in Lehigh County (and neighboring counties) in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
See my last two photos here for representative examples block of that trend -- "Rolling Stone" design, with inked names in every center. Often, these names are in a fancy calligraphed style known as "fraktur." Research has shown that many of these quilts were inked by professional scriveners.
The quilt offered here looks like a slightly later, less formal rendition of that style, and likely from the same area in Pennsylvania. The design is "Bear Paw," and the inking is in a
simple font, which did not require any special expertise of the "inker."
In Excellent Condition, this one is large, thin and lightweight. All fabrics are intact, and very fine hand quilting. Printed back.
