Poinsettia Applique Quilt
Unknown Quilt Maker
Circa 1930
86 x 86 inches
Origin Unknown
"Currants and Coxcombs" is a common name for this traditional quilt design, but I'm choosing to call it "Poinsettia," which may already be a name for it. Whatever its name, it's a red and green classic, and would make such a cool Christmas quilt. (It's not too early to start gathering your Xmas decor!)
Check out how much applique s/he has done; it's quiteunusual to see this amount of applied work in most old applique quilts. Hand quilted n nice even stitches, but quoting is not the star of this show. It's Applique Forever!
The center is beautifully framed in a complex vining border -- even more hand applique!
Just back from a professional wash, the quilt is clean and bright, and in Excellent Condition. Thin and lightweight.
