Diamond in a Square Quilt Top
Unidentified Quilt Maker
Circa 1870
80 x 80 inches
Origin Unknown; Found in New Hampshire
Spectacular printed cottons in this 19th century Diamond in the Square quilt top. All of them are cool, but that sashing fabric is outstanding. The maker's choice to put the pieced blocks on point, with the sashing running diagonally was a brilliant design decision.
This handsome quilt top is in Excellent Condition, except for some lightening of a solid brown that occurs only a few times throughout the quilt top ...(See last photo for this.)
