It's pretty easy to piece a Four Patch quilt; in fact, Four Patch is an elementary pattern often used to teach piecing to true beginners.
This quilt sings because the quilt maker had design skills that rise above the simplicity of the piecing. The maker's choice of proportion and scale, the way she handles the sashing, and above all, her sophisticated choice of colors, and their placement resulted in a very successful textile.
Check out the hand quilting; it is extraordinary, executed at about 11 - 12 stitches per inch, counting one side only. The narrow, separately applied red binding creates a colorful frame, and is simply icing on the cake.
Lightweight and thin. All cotton and in Excellent Condition. A fine, abstract textile composition that looks great on a wall or a bed.
