Blazing Stars Quilt
Unknown Quilt Maker
Circa 1900
70 x 80 inches
Origin Unknown; likely Southern U.S.
This appealing has characteristics of a Southern quilt, with my guess at its origin being North Carolina or Texas.
Created around the turn of the 20th century, this beauty displays well, and is in Very Good Condition -- except -- for one fabric (16 diamonds) which has started to shred. (See last photo.) The quilt is flat, of medium weight, and is otherwise in strong and sturdy condition.
With a winning combo of madder prints and a solid cheddar, this is hand quilted in the style called "Baptist Fan," "Clamshell," or "Elbow Quilting."
