This little lovely was made for a baby (see photo of an embroidered label on the back), and so it could be again. And ... it's the perfect size for curling up under, or for that narrow space on a wall.
The maker, Leona McCarty, scaled the Double Wedding Ring pattern down, so the "rings" fit the overall proportions of the quilt. Lots of work, lots of little pieces, meticulously hand pieced. Hand quilted, simply.
It's so wonderful when quilts are labeled. Here the quilt maker (or perhaps someone later?) cross stitched her (full) name, the full name of the lucky little recipient, and the birth date of her great granddaughter. I love that McCarty even documented their relationship.
In perhaps a touch of overkill, she also embroidered "Baby Quilt." One might deduce that Great Grandmother must have been a very detail oriented woman! Well, she made a fine quilt!
